Jamie Kearney was on hand to open the scoring mid-way through the first half for the Reds with a vicious shot, slack defending from Eddie Molumphy and Seamus Hannon to blame. Hannon was on hand to gift the Reds a second five minutes later, when a crisp Eoin Scanlon effort deflected off the centre half and got the better of Kevin ‘the van’ Martin in goals. The whites had a penalty claim, softly awarded by ref Pa Kearney, but Sean Geary parried the Vans effort to safety. On the stroke of half time, the Reds had a third. With Kevin Henley through on goal, Shane Hannon came to the Whites safety, only to see his name in lights and fire an own goal past his keeper. It was more of the same after the break, with the standard of play quickly deteriorating. Kevin Henley hit the Reds fourth goal after good work from Mike Drislane and Michael Kearney down the wing. Two dubious penalties, coming from the Seamus Hannon school of diving, casted serious doubts over the standard of refereeing from Kearney. Sean Cunningham hinted why his soccer career was in ruin with a miss, but Seamus Kenneally restored some credibility for the Whites. The Reds made it five after a Johnny Barry cross was bundled over the line by Stephen Molumphy. Man of the match Shane Feeney almost had his name on the score sheet with a thunderous shot; and the rebound was duly tapped in by Fox in the box Molumphy to make it 6-1. Thanks to everyone who participated on the day, and contributed to the Ian Kenneally fund. Thanks especially to Stephen Molumphy for organising the event and Pa Kearney for refereeing. VOTES OF SYMPATHY We extend our sympathy to the families of Paddy Jer Feeney, Helen O’Byrne, Paul Allen (Tallow), and Joe Geary (Shamrocks/England). LOTTO There was no lotto held last week.
